What's different about Wyong
A period town centre
Wyong Public School dates from 1889, St Cecilia's Church from 1908, the turreted buildings on Church Street from 1915 and the Court House from 1924. Older buildings like these need a roofer who'll match the original materials, not just the colour.
The lake floods
Heavy rain in June 2007 flooded Tuggerah Lake, reaching Long Jetty, Killarney Vale and Chittaway Point. The original Long Jetty was washed away in a flood at Easter 1927.
A lake joined to the sea
Tuggerah Lake is an intermittently open estuary, linked to the Tasman Sea by a tidal channel at The Entrance. BlueScope's published examples don't classify it, so waterfront owners should have the roofer confirm the right steel.
Its own mine subsidence district
Subsidence Advisory NSW lists a district named Wyong. Building or extending inside a district, including a new roofed patio, needs its approval before work starts.
Bushfire on the map
Emergency declarations in the Black Christmas fires of December 2001 covered Cessnock and Wyong. Central Coast Council prepares the bush fire prone land map, and your Section 10.7 planning certificate shows whether your block is on it.
Town homes
In the suburb of Wyong, 72.4% of homes were separate houses and 16.1% were semis or townhouses at the 2021 Census. 40.1% were rented and the median age was 45.
The jobs that come up most around Wyong
The restore or replace quiz helps you decide, and roof restoration on the Central Coast and re-roofing on the Central Coast cover the jobs.
Storm leaks. The storms of 3 to 5 June 2016 brought gusts up to 125 km/h and left 9,000 homes across Sydney and the Central Coast without power. After a blow like that, see roof repairs on the Central Coast and storm damage claims.
Adding a patio roof. Check the mine subsidence and bush fire maps before you get quotes, so the roofer prices the right materials and approvals. See patio roofing.
Our take on Wyong roofs
If you're adding a patio roof or an extension, we'd check the subsidence district and bush fire prone maps first. For a house that's simply getting old, we'd ask for a restoration quote and a replacement quote side by side, and let the condition of the tiles decide.

Tell us the job and your postcode. We match it with a Find My Roofer certified roofer who specialises in that kind of work, and they call you to quote. Your number goes to them alone.
