Which areas are open right now?
Every state and territory, city and country. There's no list of open postcodes to check before you apply, so just tell us where you work.
Will I get an area to myself?
How areas work for you, including whether you'd hold one alone, is part of the call we have with you before anything is signed.
What we can say now is how jobs move within an area: the roofers who cover it see each job, and the first to take it is the only one who gets the homeowner's details.
How does a job reach roofers in an area?
By postcode. A homeowner enters theirs and picks the kind of job, and roofers who've passed our checks and cover that area see it. If no roofer there takes a job within 48 hours, it may be shown to roofers further away in the same state.
That's why the detail you give us matters. If you say you cover the whole east but won't drive past Ringwood, we'd rather know now than after a job lands.
What should you tell us about where you work?
- The postcodes or suburbs you'll actually travel to
- Any you'll only go to for bigger jobs
- The jobs you take, and the ones you'd rather not get
- Roof types you don't work on, such as slate or asbestos cement
- How many new jobs a week you can realistically quote
- Times of year when you want fewer jobs
What if you work a long way from a capital city?
Apply all the same. Regional and remote areas are open too, so tell us the towns you cover and how far you'll drive for a job.
Our take on picking an area
Ask for the area you can reach quickly on a wet weekday, not the widest one you could cover. Homeowners with a leak want someone soon, and a job you can't get to fast is easy to lose.
